👉সংজ্ঞা (Definition) :

 

* যদি বক্তব্যটি বিস্ময়বোধক বাক্য  বা Exclamatory Sentence অথবা ইচ্ছাবোধক বাক্য বা Optative Sentence হয় তাহলে প্রতিবেদক ক্রিয়া বা Reporting verb টি Exclaim, cry out,wish,pray ইত্যাদিতে রূপান্তরিত হয়।

* কিছু কিছু ক্ষেত্রে নতুন শব্দ যেমন — with joy,with sorrow যুক্ত হয় বাক্যটিকে স্পষ্ট ও সম্পূর্ণ করার জন্য।

*বিস্ময়বোধক বাক্যটি বা Exclamatory Sentence টি একটি বক্তব্যে পরিণত হয় ও linker হিসাবে 'That' যুক্ত হয়।

Eg: 1

Direct : The poor man said, "Alas! I am undone ."

Indirect : The poor man exclaimed with sorrow that he was undone ."

(এখানে 'Alas' পরিবর্তিত হয়েছে 'Exclaimed with sorrow '-তে)

Eg: 2

Direct : The boy said, "Hurrah! we have won the match. "

Indirect : The boy exclaimed with joy that they had won the match.

(এখানে 'Hurrah ' রূপান্তরিত হয়েছে 'Exclaimed with joy ' -এ)

* Exclamatory Sentence অনেক সময় what,how ইত্যাদি দিয়ে শুরু হয়। এ ক্ষেত্রে very,very much,great, greatly ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Eg: 1

Direct : He said, "What a beautiful sight!"

Indirect : He exclaimed with joy that it was a very beautiful sight .

Eg: 2

Direct : He said to me, "How happy you are!"

Indirect : He told me that I was very happy.


* Indirect Speech এর শেষে Fullstop (.) বসবে এবং Direct Speech এর শেষে বিস্ময়বোধক চিহ্ন (!) বসবে।

* এছাড়াও বিস্ময়বোধক বাক্যে বিভিন্ন ভাবে Narration Change করা যায়।যেমন —

Eg: 1

Direct: She said," Goodbye, mother!"

Indirect : She bade goodbye to her mother.


Eg: 2

Direct : The man said, "My goodness!What a big mistake I have made."

Indirect : The man exclaimed with wonder that he had made a big mistake .


Eg : 3

Direct : The girl shouted, "Help! Help!"

Indirect : The girl shouted for help .
